COURSES
What is the minimum age requirement for a course?
The minimum age is 17. Do I need to be at a specific level to study at CLIC IH?
No, once you arrive at CLIC IH a placement exam is given to determine your level of Spanish. This exam includes both written and oral exercises.
When can I start a course?
Specific start dates exist for the Benedictine College Semester Program, as well as the FoCUS program. For CLIC Direct programs, if you are a beginner, you must start on specific start dates. If you have some Spanish language experience, for CLIC Direct programs, you may start on any Monday.
Can I get college credit for my courses at CLIC?
Yes, you can go through Benedictine College (KS) or we will work with you to request credit at your home university.
Can I change my course or classes once I have started?
Yes, of course. If you do feel that the class you are taking is not at your level, or that your learning progress differs from your class mates', you can speak with the teacher or the Director of Studies to have your class changed to the appropriate level, or find another solution. Please be advised that there is no refund in case you change to a less expensive course. CLIC IH is here to accommodate your needs and to ensure that you are having the best possible experience.
Do you make up classes that are missed due to holidays?
Only one to one classes are made up, please check the public holidays in the dates and prices section before confirming your enrolment. ACCREDITATION How do I get credit for my courses at CLIC IH? There are several options for credit: Apply for credit through Benedictine College or talk to your home university about how it might equivalate the courses you will take at CLIC in our Direct Program or the FoCUS program with the University of Seville. We can help with this process and are happy to speak to your Spanish department or Registrar if needed, though ultimately the weight of the accreditation process and following up on this falls to the student. We suggest you look into accredtation before you come to Seville, as it is much simpler to manage from home. Is CLIC IH a university? CLIC IH is a language institute with 25 years experience in Seville and offering university level programs in two areas: Spanish for Foreigners, and, in our Teacher Training Institute, Teaching Spanish to Foreigners. Our teacher training courses at the latter actually form part of the Masters level program at two Spanish universities. Can I get Master's level credit for courses in Teaching Spanish to Foreigners? Though students with very advanced levels of Spanish and interested in Spanish education are welcome to apply for these courses, they cannot receive official credit from the Spanish universities for this program unless they are enrolled as a full-time student in the Masters program, which is a complex process for a foreigner. How do I know how much credit to request? If you are going through Benedictine College, this depends on two things: how much credit you need (don't request Spanish 101 if you have already taken this at home), and your particular economical situation. The transfer process is not very costly, but some fees are incurred, which are calculated per requested credit hour. See the Courses Available section in Benedictine College, as well as Dates & Prices for more information. If you are going through your home institution, this will depend on what you need to complete your credit requisites for your major, as well as what your home department is willing to accredit. Keep in mind that you take somewhat more contact hours in Spain that you are accredited for, as your classes are simply more intensive. However, you will gain in linguistic fluidity and cultural experience in ways that are impossible while taking Spanish at home. What happens if I am accepted to get credit through Benedictine College and I don't receive a passing grade in my courses at CLIC IH? Though you are accepted for credit at Benedictine College, and at any college, for the most part, you must comply with the requisites for passing the course, for which you will need at least a C and for which your course progress report, including participation, homework completion, and attendance, will be taken into consideration. How do I get my grades from the University of Seville in the FoCUS program? You are officially enrolled in the univeristy through CLIC and are indeed a full-time student with a student card, and rights to campus facilities, libraries, etc. The university's policy is to send its partner schools the final grades for the courss you take there, but they do not issue full transcripts for these courses. We then send your final grades, from courses both at the University and at CLIC, to your home institution in a CLIC transcript. How early to I have to request to be accepted for credit at Benedictine College? Can I decide once I start studying? You should make this decision early on in your course, the first 2 weeks, as retroactive credit requests are not accepted. HOUSING When will I receive the confirmation and date for my housing?
