CLIC IH works dynamically with the University of Seville on programs for study in language courses, Hispanic studies courses, and other areas mainly in the humanities and liberal arts. FoCUS refers to the idea of studying in-depth a given subject area, opening an academic lens on specific fields of interest. FoCUS programs last 12-14 weeks, and include: 8 hours of language classes in grammar and conversation a week in small, attentive classes (10 students maximum), as well as 2-4 content classes in the focus area taken at the University of Seville. The program accommodates beginners up to advanced level students. How are FoCUS programs unique? 1. We do not skimp on language. Language is at the heart of the study abroad experience, and we believe it a vital component of study abroad programs that students take intensive language classes to truly counter the daily linguistic challenges they face, and surmount these effectively. 2. You deepen your knowledge in your field of study as it applies to cultural events, workshops and other institutions in Seville. The unique FoCUS program at CLIC combines these student-centered language courses with content area courses at the University of Seville and a built-in, academic, extra-curricular program in the given area, the FoCUS Series. These are monthly workshops, excursions, and guided visits that contribute to deepening knowledge in the FoCUS area. 3. You acquire real-world experience for your resumé. Students may opt to continue their studies in a hands-on, mini-internship lasting 6 weeks at the semester’s end. Students are tailor-fitted to the placement site according to their interests and career goals and provided support throughout the experience by our Internship Coordinator, including accompaniment in interviews and resume coaching in Spanish. FoCUS Semester Programs include:
-housing in a Spanish family, a CLIC Residence, or a shared apartment -student health insurance -CLIC course books -arrival pick-up from airport or train station -University of Seville fees and tuition (rights to use campus, etc) |
